Did you use the webmail interface to your e-mail account to see if the 
SpamCop response mails were getting detected as spam and moved into some 
other folder than the Inbox from which your e-mail client would be yanking 
new inbound mails?  If they have server-side spam filtering, try disabling 
it and test again when the next spam hits you.
