One of the things I most admired the US about during my time over there
and the reason why I will be moving back as soon as possible was it's
willingness to change for what it felt for the good. (It got it wrong a
few times).

I really don't mean this as a troll, but can't it be the case that times
have moved on so much that maybe the constitution needs to be changed.

As far as I am concerned, criminals don't have a right to nothing, and
for them to be able to hind behind the likes of you and me because we
refuse to give up some of our rights, just doesn't sound right.

I do admit that the chance of them using the recorded information for
things other than intended is great, and hope that it would be policed
in such a way to reduce that problem (it will never go away though as
this is real life and I accept that).

But its a trade off between the fight against criminal activity and
giving up some of my rights.

I have a right to say what I like about who I like, but I don't have a
right to commit crime. If my 'crimes' are recorded, detected, traced
and I am caught as a result, then thats a win for the rest of society.

If I am allowed to carry on with my illegal activity then that can't be
good for society.

It is I am afraid down to who we trust more, the authorities to do the
right thing, or the criminals not to do anything. (Unfortunately, there
are a lot of people who can't distinguish between the two groups there).

I don't ever want to see another WTC or London Underground, or Madrid
and anything that helps prevent that is worth some loss of my rights.
There has to be some give and take.

Again, if the abuse of that power ever gets too great, I'd be the first
to say 'shut it down' and cease.
