Look, I'm not disputing your points, merely noting that we all willingly (to
various degrees) surrender some rights when we fly, drive or do any number
of other things in our lives, it's a more or less voluntary submission, or
surrender, but life gets damn difficult in this day and age if one does not.

Of course I could have given away those items, and I have , in fact, after
"-- Oh shit I forgot to put the key chain in checked baggage!" given the
knife or whatever to a shop employee that looks like they could use a
freebie.

By the way freedom of speech is also surrendered, I have been asked to give
one shoe for X-rays, replied with "which one?" and been told "either one".
Now, could I jokingly turn to my travel companion and say "I'll give them
the one without the bomb"?
