Hi Brian and all,

The post by Anthony gave me an idea:

I downloaded 1.4, unpacked that and ran configure. No good. Ran it as
root. No good. Both times the message that no suitable BerkeleyDB
package was found.
Then I ran configure on 1.4 as root, with the --with-db=... to the
directory where BerkeyDB is installed. Then configure ran well. ????
So I tried that same one with 1.4a, as root, with the --with-db
parameter. And this time it also worked, configure built proper
Makefiles.

Food for thought?
