Great - thanks for the --without-XXX switches; they really help, at least
with the FreeBSD port.

If libpbl is found in the configure script, an installed BerkleyDB is
ignored even if it could be used. To make it possible for FreeBSD users to
choose which database type they want to use with precompiled packages,
too, I have to explicitly add "-DUSE_DB=1" to CPPFLAGS in the port. It
works that way, but it looks a bit artificial to me.
