Toss BDB and use PBL, or Hash.
I like Hash better because it doesnt grow on you ....

Many users, including myself, had exactly the same problem with BDB,
that is intermittiant, then sometimes constant hangs.
Noone has found anything wrong with spamprobe's use of BDB so the conclusio=

it must be the BDB itself.  Noone to my knowledge has reported hangs in PBL =
