The other day I noticed quite a lot of spam getting through. Examining the logs I found that procmail was timing out running
spamprobe.
So I started watching closely ... later that day I reproduced it ... I had 10 spamprobe processes all blocked and one running max
CPU.
One at a time I'd kill off SP and then another would take its place. I tried removing the lock file as well. even spamprobe counts
was hanging.
Eventually I killed them all off and reverted to a 3 week old saved hash DB and now its working great.
This is a 20MB hash DB. How do I know if thats big enough ? Is it possible its getting too full causing sp to hang ?
