Just so you know, I am trying to replicate this problem so as to find a
solution.  However, I also don't have a lot of time to spend on this
these days.

My current install (which was *not* from scratch) seems to work fine,
so maybe try installing your .tmda directory manually or from an older
installation.

I'll keep this post updated with anything I discover, but I can't
promise fast results, sorry.
