I do it the other way around.  That dramatically lowers your tmda queue
and limits the number of emails -you- send out to potentially innocent
3rd parties that spammers hijacked their address.

MTA
   spamassassin  (everything, /dev/null scores over 8)
        everything scoring negative gets immediate delivery
        everything with an SA score over 4 gets forcefed as spam to DSPAM
      dspam (everything remaining, anything that scores as spam goes
into $spam)
         tmda (everything else that remains)

My TMDA queue is normally empty now.  The majority of spam has been
trashed.  Negatively scored email is email that I have predetermined
safe.  DSPAM scores up a few more heuristics that catches the
questionable content from SA.

This does a pretty good job of putting the smack down on spam and keeps
my mailbox clean.  I think my latest count is > 1200 spam attempts to my
mailbox per day.
