qmail/vpopmail challenge email rejected

Hello,

I first started working on this in October and did a lot of research
before giving up.  I'm now working on it again.  I noticed in
December, one other person posted a similiar question to the list, but
I couldn't find a response.

I have qmail with vpopmail 4.5.8 and tmda 1.1.8 running on FreeBSD 4.10
Technically, I'm using vpopmail toaster
(http://www.tnpi.biz/internet/mail/toaster/) though that shouldn't
matter to much (or maybe it does).

This problem, I suspect might have more to do with gmail then tmda,
but I figured I would start here to see if anyone has the solution.

I roughly followed the guide here:

I am starting this on a per-user basis, though I did quickly test
doing an entire domain.

If I send a message from gmail to [email protected] I get the proper
challenge.  The message shows up in .tmda/pending and an empty file
shows up in .tmda/responses.  But, when I reply to the response, I get
a bounce.

In the domains/yourtech.us directory, I have the following files:
.qmail-test
.qmail-test-default

Both files are identical and contain:
|preline /usr/local/tmda/bin/tmda-filter -S
/usr/local/tmda/contrib/vpopmail-vdir.sh
|/usr/local/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail "" bounce-no-mailbox

Please let me know if you need additional/different information.  I'd
love to get this problem out of the way.
