%(recipient)s - help?

Does anyone know anything about using the variable %(recipient)s? I am trying to figure out why this variable won't work right. Instead of giving me "[email protected]", it gives me "[email protected]". Any help would be appreciated. I am using tmda-1.1.12 with qmail-toaster. Thank you, John
