problem with improperly formed sender email address

An email address that is a non-valid one gives me a circuating 
email which fills up my pending folder maybe 200 times.

The problem is when the sender email address is something like;

<johnibm>   - no @ symbol
<[email protected]@apple.com>  - two @ symbols
<>  no email address at all.

It may be easier to catch it before it goes -into- TMDA with spamassassin
or sendmail or procmail, all used in my case.

Any ideas would be helpful
