This is kind of odd. The "patched" version doesn't differ from the 
original 0.3.8 release in any significant way. A diff shows only a 
single newline at the end of one file is added by the patch. While text 
files should certainly end with a newline, and some programs won't read 
them properly without it, as far as I know this has nothing to do with 
Python 2.5 compatibility.

So what we have is a patched version of tlslite that is effectively the 
same as the original. The web page of that patched version claims it is 
required for TMDA, which appears to be wrong. The TMDA wiki further 
claims that the patched version fixes the Python 2.5 compatibility 
problem, which also appears to be wrong. In fact, the patched version 
appears to have originated in February of 2005 (according to file times 
in the archive), which seems to be before GeneratorExit was presented as 
a proposal for Python (PEP 342 was created in May of 2005).

I don't have any information about this. I haven't been in contact with 
any of the contributors to the original TMDA. I decided to work on my 
own fork when I saw that there had been no activity upstream for 
something like 3 years. This suggested that there would likely be little 
interest in any patches I had to offer. Unfortunately, developers losing 
interest in their projects is a normal occurrence, and I don't hold it 
against them.

By the way, I should mention that tmda-cgi isn't supported in my 
version. I updated the wiki page above to make this clear. I just don't 
have enough interest to invest the time and effort in updating and 
testing it.
