Paul, You know Glossary plays an important role in Localization.

Though we have Tamil specking people in India (Tamil Nadu) and Sri Lanka,
till 2000 both countries publishing their own glossaries. Then the scholars
came into an agreement and they published a common IT glossary in 2000. But
even in that glossary if you see, for a single word they have given two
translations and they have specified as (த.வ) and (இ.வ). That means, Sri
lankan usage and Indian (Tamil Nadu) usage. This differenenciation is there
for lot of words in that combined IT glossary of Sri Lanka and India. We are
basing on our localization mainly on this glossary.
Also I need to point out here that, this IT glossary was prepared by 12
indian (Tamil Nadu) scholars and 12 Sri Lankan scholars.

Still we are happy with 'ta' as locale. But we recommend 'ta_LK'.

The glossary I was mentioning is published through 'Official Language
Commission' in Sri Lanka and I have a copy of that. Unfortunatly that is not
yet in Online. I have attached scan copies of cover page and an inside page
for your reference.
