That said, I use squirrelmail from my cell phone browser whenever I need better searching than the internal mail app provides. No modification or "settings" are required. If you can connect to your mail server remotely using imap, you should probably use the iPhone's built-in email client rather than using the browser to connect to squirrelmail (contact your mail provider with this question to get the settings you need for your iPhone).
