problem while sending emails from the sqwebmail

Hello All,
 
  Recently I was asked to troubleshoot one Linux server (RH AS 2.1)
running qmail+vpopmail+sqwebmail+spamassasin and lots of other stuff. 

Now the problem encountered is in sqwebmail.When ever I tried to sent an
email from it, the from address is changed to some bogus characters (as
per the sendmail log and the sendit.sh shell program). because of this
the sendmail program was unable to send mails to some domains. The same
problem persists while changing the password also. The error page shows
the username with some weired character. 

Please help me to solve this problem.
