problem with cache file

Hi,
I am using sqwebmail-4.0.4 on a Linux Mandrake machine with,
./configure --with-module=authpwd
make
make install-strip
make install-configure 

I can log in fine and see the folders. But when I click on them I get,

Can't create cache file

In logs I find,

May 26 15:47:35 localhost sqwebmaild: Can't create cache file
|./tmp/1085566655.M758702P17729_sqwebmail-db.localhost|: No such file or
directory

What is the problem? I googled around for a while but could not get any
exact solutions other than some tips by Brian. But it is a  simple
single domain setup using plain /etc/passwd and no POP3 and IMAP server
is installed.
