In your preferences:

[X] Do not archive sent messages in the Sent folder.

P.S. If you mean, as a site admin, "for all of your users"... then I 
suppose you could hack the source to invert the meaning of that switch 
and then remove the words "Do not " from the HTML of the preferences 
page. But there's no global option (as far as I remember, anyway) that 
does that.
