Do I have to do this?

I have two step enabled, and I am using a app password. 

I didn't see anywhere in the email, where it said I had to switch to
O-Oath?

I am on a windows email client list and people there are asking the
same question. The question of if they need just a 2 step password or
what. The email from Gmail wasn't really clear on what their plans
were/are.
