IMAP only works correctly over SSL. This is mentioned at the download
page in the "Known Bugs" section (I am trying to collect the most
common problems there, so it might be worth a search when you face
a problem).

Those are reports from the (unix) Claws trackers (bugs, patches, support
requests), that are sent to the claws-users list by default.
You can find the trackers
for Claws (unix):
  http://sf.net/projects/sylpheed-claws
and for Claws (win32):
  http://sf.net/projects/claws-w32
(The win32 tracker reports are not sent to a mailing list).

I recommend to filter the "List-Id" header rather than the "From"
address, which might be different (as you already found out).

Yes, but the first step is that you need to enable SSL for IMAP,
otherwise you wont succeed at all.
If you still encounter problems, the bugs mentioned at the (unix)
Claws tracker are worth a look.

Btw., I just read your post to claws-users about the .sylpheed directory
not found. By default, this is located in "C:\Documents and Settings"
(translated on non-english Windows).
An easy way to disable a server that causes lockups on start is to edit
the accountrc in that directory and change the value of that
specific "receive server" (e.g. appending a ".1.1.1.1"), so that it
bails out because of the non-existing host name.

Best regards,
