The drwatson log shows a problem inside an EnterCriticalSection call, the new gpgme version has this call added when queriying the version information, but earlier versions also used this function very often (only in different places). If the CriticalSection code is somehow broken, it has to be broken anywhere in the gpgme code (the invocation is always the same), i.e. all attempts to use gpg must have led to a crash before. Did you ever (try to) use gpg with Sylpheed? If yes, did you notice any unusual behaviour (crashes, no function, ...)?
