GUI applications don't write to consoles under Win32, the only way to get such output is using redirection ("sylpheed --debug > out.txt"). Anyway, the debug enabled versions produce much more output than the release version with --debug parameter (for some unknown reason it even runs more stable or ...hmm... at all). The debug version (as well as the debug dlls) can be found at the bottom of the claws-w32 download page (see my signature). I am wondering about Martins experience, that after installing gpg and aspell the crashes disappeared - I did quite a lot of tests on WinXP and Win98se without them, with wrong registry settings, mixed wrong versions of .exe and .dll ... no crashes on my side - but it is clear that there are problems. Unless I found the cause, installing gpg and/or aspell might help - I am interested in your results.
