If a crash occurs, please use the debug version, make it
crash again and send this console output here or to my
private address. To get the output, open a console window
in "[installdir]\bin" and enter
  sylpheed_d > sylpheed.out           (on win9x/me)
or
  sylpheed_d > sylpheed.out 2>&1      (on winnt/2k/xp)
It is also possible to delete [HOME]\.sylpheed\debug.log
before running and send this file after the crash.
   
Providing drwatson logs only makes sense when running the
debug versions (sylpheed_d.exe), the retail versions
(sylpheed.exe) doesn't reveal any information at all.

Some additonal tips:

- Try the updates in addition to the installer
- Debug version runs in many cases. Reason still unknown.
- Installing gpg and/or Aspell seemed to help. (*)
- Try a recent version of gnupg (*)
  Also check that the registry is correctly set up (either
  use the gnupp installer or get, edit and install the
  "sylpheed_gpgme.reg" from the download page).
Aspell tips:
- Aspell can cause trouble if there are older (unofficial)
  versions - try to deinstall first, but also have a look
  that "[Program files]\Aspell", "C:\Aspell " and the
  directories from the settings window are empty.
  Then install the official Aspell release together with at
  least one dictionary. (*)
- Sometimes old settings from "[HOME]\.sylpheed\sylpheedrc"
  can cause a crash. Delete following lines:
    enable_aspell=
    aspell_path=
    dictionary=
    aspell_sugmode=
    use_alternate_dict=
    check_while_typing=
    misspelled_color=
