There is a search page for debian packages at
  http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages

Most actual are the homepages at
  http://sylpheed.good-day.net/			(vanilla)
  http://sylpheed-claws.sourceforge.net/	(claws)

There is a rpm at the sylpheed(vanilla) homepage, though I just
have problems connecting to that site...

AFAICT debian are usually the fastest providing ready compiled
packages for new versions, anyway - compiling can also be fun ;)
