Hi Thorsten, try the port scanner at 'http://www.atelierweb.com/pscan/download.htm' with the Enhanced Ports Finder for Windows NT/2000/XP Plugin. You will find the 'listening' application. After starting sylpheed port 1050 and 54321 are opened. Then I check two accounts and ports 1053 and 1055 are open. If Icheck them again, additional two ports open. Seems for me that sylpheed does not close the used ports (the log for pop is ok, send quit - recieve ok). Maybe time to try a newer sylpheed version. greetings, Steffen Am Tue, 25 Feb 2003 00:11:55 +0100 schrieb Thorsten Maerz <[email protected]>: > >Hi Steffen, > >On Mon, 24 Feb 2003 22:31:55 +0100 Steffen Reinhardt <[email protected]> wrote: > >> on my system sylpheed is listening on 45 ports - strange or normal? > >How do you know that these ports are opened by Sylpheed? >Sylpheed only opens one socket in listening mode, specifically >bound to 127.0.0.1 - so even this is no security problem. > >Regards, >-- >Thorsten Maerz <[email protected]> >Sylpheed-claws/Win32: http://claws-w32.sf.net > ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf
