Eudora and Mozilla both have this also (and I've implemented it with Perl scripts for Gnus, mutt, etc.)

The problem is not downloading.  I have high-speed connections at home and at work.  I just don't need to see the same spam messages twice.  If I "peek" at my home mail while in the office, I want to be able to delete messages both locally and from the POP3 server.
