This information is first taken from ac_prefs->domain, i.e. the "domain"
field under "account prefs"/"advanced". If unset, it passes the result
of the gethostname() to gethostbyname() (both system calls that use
settings from your hosts file, dhcp server or whatever), trying to get
the fqdn of your machine.
