Hi, Thorsten, Thanks *very* much for all your help on this. Well, it sounds like the best solution would be to figure out how to integrate my own fetch and nuke scripts. That way I can simply delete the messages while reading them, and have them cleaned off the server next time I fetch mail. The current method in Sylpheed and Claws doesn't seem to offer much, if I have to use Selective Download in order to delete from the server. Selective Download requires me to look at each message header and make some decision about the message before I download it. If a message is questionable, I still have to download it and decide whether I should keep it or delete it. > > I'm uneasy about using my fetching script in place of > > Claws's native mail fetching. > > For one thing, how would the various > > .sylpheed files (cache, etc.) get updated? > > Incorporating files from a local spool will update the folders > IIRC. It uses the MH rcvstore command to write them directly to MH folders. That would require using Claws's 'rebuild folder tree' option to update each time, unless there's a way to automate that. It might be better for me to modify my script to simply write to the local spool, but then I'd have two steps: 1) Run script to fetch mail from POP server and write to local spool, and 2) Get Claws to incorporate messages from spool. > > For another, my script > > doesn't do SSL, so I'd have to have a tunneler running for that. > > (No > > google stunnel I already have stunnel working. I've used that with gnus, mutt, etc. I liked *not* having to use it with Claws.
