One source of crashes at end may be plugins for a
wrong sylpheed version. Try if unloading them solves
your problems.

Then try running from clean setup, i.e. rename the
.sylpheed directory (should reside in
  E:\Documents and settings\<yourname>\Application Data )
and restart Sylpheed (will generate default settings).
When asked for a Mailbox, choose your old Mailbox first
and see if the crash still happens. If it does, please
also check with an empty Mailbox.

Also try the debug anabled version (needs debug DLL pack)
and start it (sylpheed_d.exe) from a console window and
inspect its output when the crash happened.
