The correct setting name is "Allow less secure apps". Why on Earth
does Google consider the time-honoured POP3 and SMPT protocols,
implemented in all free mail clients, "less secure"? What is worth,
those paranoids will automatically uncheck that settings after it
has not been used for some time, so beware!
