despite I don't have knowledge to understand this code, I hope that,
by your description, it helps to fix the Yahoo and AOL imap mail
servers retrieval issues too, because, after all, the issue seems
very similar, as I described earlier in the list.

Might be some parsing problem that fails to display correctly what it
retrieves, even though is most like an storing of mail listing issue.

Thanks and I hope to see this fix applied to check if it helps with
the Yahoo/AOL issue :)
