As well as Google and everybody -- in the incorrect,
insulting, and denigrating broad sense.  Also, pay heed to
the adjective:

   Yahoo : third-party apps
   Google: less-secure apps

That is what they call perfectly normal, standard-complying
e-mail clients!  An e-mail client is totally indpenedent of
an e-mail server /by design/, so calling it "third-party" is
misinformation intended to manipulate the user into
abandoning decent software based on open and stable
protocols in favour encagement in a closed proprietary
"ecosystem".

Futhermore, some e-mail providers are starting to charge
users for the normal method of accessing their
mailboxes -- via POP, IMAP, and SMTP, because that way are
missing the ads in their ugly web interfaces.
