No hurry, and perhaps you shan't need it, because I hope the
"app password" should help.

Bad, lamer-oriented wording there.  You use the generated
"app password" in your client (Sylpheed), instead of your
main Yahoo password.  Make sure to check to log in case of
error, because the other frequenct problem is using the
wrong (unsupported) authentication method.  But the change
the password in Sylpheed to the "app password" first and see
what happens.
