The option does work, but it's entirely up to the recipient whether the con=
firmation will be sent; and while in the past the defaults were to ask the =
user (or even to send the confirmation automatically), I've seen more and m=
ore mail clients being set to never ask and never send the confirmation.

You can check that the option works by looking in your Sent folder =E2=80=
=93 if you view the message headers, these two headers should be set (and t=
his is all that option does):

X-Confirm-Reading-To: your-BhBwXcZClc6A8/[email protected]
Disposition-Notification-To: your-BhBwXcZClc6A8/[email protected]

Confirm Receipt option is more reliable =E2=80=93 those receipts are sent b=
y servers, but they only tell you that the message was delivered.
