Hello Mary,

On Saturday, October 5, 2024 you wrote:

I was going to reply that if what you suggest was true, the same anomaly
*should* appear when composing a *new* email and not just a reply. But then I
realized, here I was, typing a reply to you and the anomaly isn't showing up.
Plus, at the bottom of the window it says I'm using *English(American)*.

Upon further investigation I find that the spell check control is also at the
bottom of the window in which I'm typing. A little box with ABC and a check mark
in it. Right now the fill color of the box is an orange color but if I click in
the box, the color disappears and so does spell check. This little box seems to
turn spell check on and off.

However, in a NEW email it works just opposite. If spell check is turned on
(orange), anything I type is underlined in red. If I click in the spell check
control box, the red underlining disappears, but so does spell check. It no
longer flags misspelled words.
