Hello,

Since about 2009, I've had my own domain hosted by GoDaddy. I don't use the
domain for a website. Just for my primary personal email account.

For years, the service was very good, and quite inexpensive on an annual
basis. Then, a couple years ago, GoDaddy sold their soul to Microsoft, and
*required* all their customers to switch their email services over to
"Microsoft Exchange". No more support of POP3/SMTP. And, the annual costs
increased. A great deal, in fact.

For my primary email account, this meant that I could no longer use my
favorite email client -- TheBat! Really annoying. Really, really annoying,
in fact. Had to use the evil and terrible Outlook.

For a long while, I bitched and moaned to GoDaddy about this, and they
finally relented and gave me a way to use POP3 with my Microsoft
Exchange/MS365 email. It was working! I had my primary email back on TB! :)

However, a few days ago, I decided to finally get rid of a real waste of
money for me -- MS Online Business Essentials (got instead a great price on
lifetime license for Office 2024--installed on my computer), and better
options for cloud storage as well. Didn't need that expensive
"web-based/online only" crap anymore.

At the same time, I "downgraded" (their term, not mine) my email service to
just email -- no online-only MS Office stuff, as I didn't need that anymore.

They promised me there would be no interruption of my POP3 email service.
They lied. It's no longer working. I just spent hours with their
ridiculously incompetent "help" people, and they couldn't help. No more easy
phone calls to actual experts. Just text chat to incompetent screen reading
people once one insists to the "AI assistant" that a human was required.

So, it is my intention to finally fire GoDaddy and their Lord and Master=20
Microsoft.

I need to find a new company to host my domain name. And I also want to=20
find a reliable POP3/SMTP server service for my email. If it can be all=20
with the same company, all the better (as it used to be "back in the day"=20
with GoDaddy).

Any suggestions? Thanks for wading through this terrible rant, just to get=
=20
to this simple question! :)
