When I was working for a company back in the 1990s and 2000s, I had to use Outlook at work. I used The Bat at home. Although Outlook had certain functionality, at the time, that was not displayed by The Bat, overall, using The Bat was a much more pleasant experiencing. It also had functionality lacking in Outlook that far outweighed whatever Outlook had to offer.

I used GoDaddy for a very short period - back in the 1990s, when they acquired a domain host that I had been using and liked. I dumped them in 2004 for 1and1.com, which has since become ionos.com. I chose this webhost for several reasons:
low cost,
could host a web site if I chose to have one
24/7 tech support
no limit on email size, either ingoing or outgoing
I have stayed with this company and have been using their services continously since Jan 2004.
Because this is a large company, I receive a fair amount of phishing email that purport to originate from ionos.com, and they all invariably ask me to click on something. I ignore them all. I do have spam filters, but tend to err on the side of letting email come through in order to avoid having a client's or potential client's email go to spam. So, my filters are not as robust as one might choose to have if their only email was social, in nature.
As you will notice, this email originates from a gmail account, which is a dedicated account I use for certain types of list serv mail. However, my business and personal email account are all set up with a private domain name, which is hosted by ionos.com. I have been very happy with them. And, yes, they support pop3/smtp.
