Well, this is very interesting.

We built 2 ubuntu-18.04 maia instances, identical except one uses mysql, and the other uses mariadb.
The one running mariadb works perfectly, but the one running mysql shows this error, just as you reported:

So, I'm just going to do a quick workaround and sidestep the issue for now. I'm updating the ubuntu installers to install mariadb instead of mysql.

Just out of curiosity, was this a default install of a local maia db, or did it use an existing db server?

If so, what db version is it? I'm looking through the schema, and in the maia logs here, and I'm not seeing this rule enforced anywhere

The Maia server is at the head end, the user account was created in the web interface and there is a transport file and relay_domain mappings file to the recipient email server.

Seems like its something minor but A google search isn’t helping me out
