ClamAV Failure

I am  using Maia Mail guard on  A freebsd 12.1 server with postfix and Dovecot

I am geting the following error

maiad[33489]: (33489-01) ClamAV-clamd: Can't connect to UNIX socket /var/run/clamav/clamd.ctl: No such file or directory, retrying (1)

I have verified that Clamd is running.  

Issue appears to be with the socket. .    The log says it is looking for clamd.ctl
As I understand it thesis actually in clams.sock. exists and has what I believe to be the right permissions

I have stopper and restarted clamd several times in hope of creating clamd.ctl with no success .

Thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated
