Access Denied for user

 am ruining g Maia 1.04 on FreeBsd 12 with mySQL MariaDB version 5.7.32,  Postfix version 3.6-20201104 and Dovecot Version 2.3.11.3


I have been having trouble with MAIA since I updated my installed ports

I have clarified that vscan can in fact access maia data base on mysql at local host 


 mysql -u vscan -p maia

Anu idea what I can turn to next.   Nery frustrated.  It must be something simple
