Locked myself out of my root account?

Hi,
I am in the process of migrating my mail server to a new server, and
migrating maia along the way. I had had it all set up, but then I started
to try (re)linking addresses to my account, and apparently I did it in the
"wrong way" and now I locked myself out of my account. My account *was*
the root account, but now it's linked to a "new user", somehow.
I have access to the mysql DB but I'm at a loss to figure out how to undo
this mistake.
When I try to login to my standard user account I get "Attempted login by
linked account rejected. Please use the primary account" But if I try to
use the account I linked to (or what I think I linked to), using the
password I got, I get "no login for user".
If I cannot log in as the root user (which means I do not have access to
the admin page) how can I undo this mistake?
Help!
