I feel bad piling on, but my other big concern is that maia's actual 
main mail scanning daemon is a severely outdated amavisd-new 2.2.1 from 
around 2002 as far as I know.

 From what I can tell, a few cherry picked updates and fixes were 
brought in from upstream at some point, but that would've stopped 10+ 
years ago. AFAIK, there's something like 10-20 years of amavisd updates 
missing from maiad.
