The PEAR MDB2 *DOES* work. I did some testing with Maia's interface a 
while back and it worked just fine. Definitely makes the code changes 
quicker. However, it also was kind of a band-aid for the code. The code 
really should be updated for PDO. PEAR MDB2 just adds another dependency 
which isn't technically needed.
