We've run the experimental installers on FreeBSD 14.3 and FreeBSD 15-Alpha5 several times, each time resulting in a fully functional maia instance (mostly using a pre-existing remote DB server) Perhaps some of this work can be incorporated into an optional finishing script for the FreeBSD port, to handle those parts that aren't built from source.
