How did you install w3? Elpa?

No idea, if/how it is possible to use lynx.

Install libxml2 and try again. If you are building from source you
have to recompile Emacs. If emacs-w3m is not installed/enabled shr
(wrongly called eww in my previous e-mail) will be used to render
html.
