get strange error when starting wl

Hi.  I am using emacs 26.3 and when I start wl, I get the following in
the echo area:
Wrong type argument: listp, "IMAP:covici/[email protected]:993"

I am using the latest version from elpa, although it still says
2.15.9.  I did verify that that came from the package of 1209 of last
year.

I had the two pending operations business for a while, but I said n to
the first prompt and y to the second and now I get this sort of
error.  It may be harmless, but any way to fix?
