Hi all,

Have now noticed that this is not directly related to removable
media. The same thing happens if I try to open a non-existing file (eg
by pressing return when the auto-completion has stopped in the middle
of a name).

I guess this is compatible with the explanation given below (except
that the new buffer is associated with the last error rather than last
directory?)
