Cool now it is working !! I couldn't figure out the reason, but it started
working after I rebooted my router. [BTW this is my home net and I didn't touch
any of its configuration for it to behave so differently though .. When I
snooped the packets I saw the request going out to login.yahoo. Initial
connection establishment was OK, but never proceeded further ... I didn't
pursue further. ]
