In practice, it does not delete anything. In fact, the built-in POP 
server should throw an exception if a client issue a DELE command. 
Think about what you see through the POP server as a shared resource. 
And don't try to delete it :)

Setup your email client to "leave the messages on the server". That 
way, your client will keep track of what it has already seen.
