Hmmm... I see... perhaps a "temporary suspension" is indeed the way to 
go instead of disabling the account altogether...

For example, the app could keep a running count of successive 
connection failures and use this to increase the time interval between 
connection attempts.

How does that sound?

Would that improve or worsen the situation?
